Nettle tea offers anti-inflammatory and kidney health benefits

Nettle tea (Urtica dioica) offers several medicinal benefits, including anti-inflammatory and diuretic properties. According to Natália Ipaves, nutrition coordinator at Faculdade Anhanguera, the plant is rich in vitamins A, C, K, and B1, as well as minerals such as iron, calcium, magnesium, and potassium.

Due to its antioxidant compounds, including flavonoids and phenolic acids, nettle tea can help reduce inflammatory cytokines. This may provide relief for joint discomfort and stiffness associated with conditions like arthritis, arthrosis, and rheumatism.

The plant also acts as a diuretic, aiding in fluid elimination through urine, which can help prevent urinary tract infections and support kidney health by protecting renal tissue from oxidative damage. Additionally, nettle may assist in blood pressure control and glycemic regulation by stimulating insulin production.
