Nettuno Court Orders Immediate Opening of Public Beach Access

The Lazio Regional Administrative Court confirmed that the municipality of Nettuno must promptly provide safe public access to its beach, rejecting a request to revoke the precautionary decree issued on 24 July. The court found no serious or irreparable prejudice from maintaining the order and emphasized the public interest in free and safe use of the coastline.

The decision follows long‑standing complaints that private gates and fences block the sea, violating regional regulation that requires a public access point every 300 metres. Codacons and the Comitato dei Mille e Dialogo filed the lawsuit against the municipality, the Anzio Port Authority and the Lazio Region, citing a tragic rescue incident delayed by closed gates. A council meeting to discuss the ruling is scheduled for 4 September.
