Nettuno displays 1,300 handmade blankets to protest gender-based violence
In Nettuno, Italy, over 1,300 handmade blankets were displayed at Largo delle Sirene on September 27, 2026, as part of a large-scale installation to protest gender-based violence.
The initiative, organized by the Brescia-based association ‘VivaVittoria’, serves as a local stage for a national project that uses textile art to promote social solidarity and the protection of rights. The installation includes works created by various community members, including over 160 crochet blankets made by women from the State Police Association (ANPS) of Nettuno.
The event also aimed to highlight the specific vulnerabilities faced by women with disabilities. Proceeds from the sale of the handmade items are intended to support centers working in the field of gender-based violence. Local officials, including Mayor Nicola Burrini, attended the opening ceremony to support the collective effort.
