Nettuno rowing crew participates in Venice Regata Storica

The Associazione Voga Veneta Nettuno-Anzio participated in the historic Regata Storica in Venice, marking their 13th consecutive year in the event. Representing the city of Nettuno, the rowing crew paraded through the Grand Canal wearing the championship jerseys of the Nettuno Baseball team.

This year's participation highlighted the local connection between baseball and Nettuno's history, as the city council recently recognized baseball as part of the city's intangible heritage. The tradition of the sport in the region dates back to the 1944 Allied landings. The crew, led by president Nando Taurelli, included Gabriele Carloni, Cesare Mallone, Irene Eminyan, Roberto Matteucci, and Antonio Cianfriglia.

Nettuno officials, including Vice Mayor Cristina De Carolis and Councilor Marco Federici, accompanied the delegation. The group received recognition from Venetian authorities, including the delegate for historical and cultural traditions, Giovanni Giusto, and the Mayor of Venice, Simone Venturini.
