Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah calls for accountable justice system in Namibia
President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has called for a more coordinated, accessible, and accountable justice system in Namibia. Speaking at the opening of the inaugural State of Justice Conference in Windhoek, she emphasized that true justice is achieved when ordinary citizens experience fairness and protection of rights in their daily lives.
Nandi-Ndaitwah highlighted the need to prioritize access to justice at the grassroots level, where the majority of the population resides. She warned that “justice delayed is justice denied,” urging officials to address delays in legal services and improve promptness in responding to those seeking legal assistance or rights enforcement.
The President also addressed the importance of integrity within the legal sector, stating that corruption has no place in the country and that a lack of integrity can lead to insecurity and loss of life. She encouraged legal professionals to act with honesty and urged institutions to move toward coordinated teamwork and the exploration of alternative dispute resolution methods to alleviate pressure on the courts.
