Network of Cities with Lakes holds annual conference in Pogoni

The annual conference of the Network of Cities with Lakes was held in the Municipality of Pogoni from October 2 to 4, 2026. Under the auspices of the President of the Republic, Konstantinos Tasoulas, the event focused on the theme ‘Water & Energy: Choices Shaping the Future.’

The conference brought together local government officials, scientific researchers, and representatives from European institutions to discuss sustainable water resource management, energy, and climate change adaptation. Key discussions included the development of national and cross-border policies for water management and climate resilience.

During the event, representatives from the Municipality of Ioannina highlighted the importance of Lake Pamvotis for the region's identity and environment. They detailed ongoing initiatives such as wastewater treatment projects by DEYAI, plans for the reuse of treated water for irrigation, and collaborations for cleaning the lakeshore and restoring natural banks.
