Network Rail works disrupt services on UK Wharfedale and Badminton lines

Network Rail announced a series of engineering improvements on the Wharfedale Line in West Yorkshire, including track renewal, tunnel repairs and related groundwork. Services will be amended for four weekend days in July (18‑19 and 25‑26) and for three additional days in early August (1‑3). Trains between Leeds, Bradford Forster Square, Ilkley and Skipton will be cancelled or diverted, with replacement bus services provided between affected stations.

In parallel, Network Rail is carrying out extensive works on the Badminton line, part of the Great Western Main Line through the Cotswolds. The project, involving track and signalling upgrades over a 2.5‑mile stretch, runs through August 2, 2024, severing the direct Swindon‑Bristol rail link. Passengers are advised to use diverted routes or replacement buses, with journey times extended by 60‑90 minutes. Full train service is scheduled to resume on the morning of August 3 after safety checks.
