Neumarkt cow barn fire causes millions in damage

A major fire destroyed a cow barn in the Labersircht district of Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz, Bavaria, late Saturday night. More than 150 cattle were inside the building at the time of the blaze.

Emergency responders successfully rescued the majority of the animals, though two cows died in the fire. Some of the freed cattle escaped into the surrounding area and onto nearby roads, prompting the fire department to use a drone to locate and recapture them. No human injuries were reported.

The total damage is estimated to exceed 1.5 million euros. The cause of the fire remains unknown, and police investigators are expected to examine the site in the coming days to determine the origin of the blaze.
