Neumarkt social housing project breaks ground in Bavaria

Bavarian ministers Christian Bernreiter and Albert Füracker have broken ground on a new social housing project in Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz. The BayernHeim initiative will create 121 barrier-free apartments across five buildings, designed for singles, couples, and families.

The project involves an investment of over 40 million euros, with more than 31 million euros provided through social housing subsidies. To ensure long-term affordability, the apartments will have a 55-year occupancy binding period, with rents starting at 6.20 euros per square meter.

The development includes amenities such as balconies or terraces, playgrounds, and sustainable wood-hybrid construction. The site is designed to be accessible via public transport and includes significant bicycle parking facilities.
