Neunkirchen fire: Mother and child rescued from burning apartment

A residential fire broke out in the Grabenstraße of Neunkirchen, Germany, early on Friday morning around 07:00. The blaze engulfed a second‑floor apartment in a multi‑family building, prompting a large‑scale response from the Freiwillige Feuerwehr Neunkirchen and neighboring fire districts.

Firefighters arrived to find dense smoke and a mother and her child trapped at a window. Using a turntable ladder, they lifted both to safety and transferred them to a hospital for further examination. Around 35 firefighters, along with emergency medical services, the district fire inspector, the local energy provider and command staff, worked to extinguish the fire, evacuate adjacent units and conduct ventilation and overhaul operations. The fire was declared out after roughly two hours, leaving the affected apartment and the one below uninhabitable. Police are investigating the cause of the fire.
