Neuquén authorities hold digital scam prevention training
The Neuquén Ministry of Security, through its Subsecretariat of Prevention and Citizen Organization, conducted a training session focused on preventing digital scams. Held at Club Ceppron, the event provided 50 participants with practical tools to protect their bank accounts, money, and personal data from increasing fraudulent activities.
Experts, including Daniel Domene from the Directorate of Applied Security Technologies and Gerardo Oviedo from the Cybercrime Division, led the session. A significant portion of the training addressed WhatsApp security, as the application is frequently used by scammers to hijack accounts and impersonate victims to solicit money from contacts.
Key recommendations included activating two-step verification and adjusting privacy settings to block unknown calls and limit the visibility of profile information. Authorities intend for the attendees to act as multipliers, sharing these prevention techniques within their communities.
