Neuquén Court Sentences Abuser to Four Years in Prison

A court in Argentina's Neuquén province sentenced a 18‑year‑old man to four years of effective imprisonment for aggravated sexual abuse of a child in his family circle. The abuse began when the victim was 10 and continued for several years until the teenager disclosed it at age 15. Judges highlighted the age gap and breach of trust as aggravating factors, while noting the defendant’s lack of prior record, admission of guilt, and participation in therapy as mitigating circumstances. The sentence also includes permanent registration in the national sexual‑offense database.

The ruling was unanimous, delivered by judges Lucas Yancarelli, Juan Guaita and Cristian Piana, and reflects Argentina’s legal framework for severe sexual crimes against minors.
