Neuquén extends public vote for major avenue name
The Municipality of Neuquén has extended the voting period for selecting a new name for the city's major avenue until the end of September. The decision, made by Mayor Mariano Gaido, follows a record-breaking participation rate that has already exceeded 52,500 votes.
The initiative originated from requests by private sectors and local institutions to provide a new identity to the key corridor. Residents aged 16 and older can participate via the municipal website by providing their DNI, age, and postal code.
There are ten pre-established name options available, along with an eleventh option that allows citizens to propose an alternative name, provided it is not linked to a political figure. Luciana De Giovanetti, Secretary of Human Rights, Institutional Relations, and International Cooperation, stated that extending the deadline aims to increase community legitimacy and participation in the decision.
