Neuquén fire brigadiers undergo training in Spain
Two brigadiers from the Neuquén Provincial Fire Management System (SPMF) have traveled to Spain to participate in a technical mission focused on forest fire prevention and management. Arriving in Madrid on October 18, the specialists are scheduled to engage in training and knowledge exchange from October 19 to October 23.
The mission includes meetings with experts from Spain’s Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, as well as visits to the Toledo Regional Operational Center for Fighting Forest Fires and the facilities of the Forest Fire Reinforcement Brigades (BRIF). The training covers operational coordination for large fires, mobile analysis units, prevention strategies, cause investigation, controlled burns, and area restoration techniques.
The objective is to bring new tools and expertise back to Neuquén to strengthen the province's response capabilities for the upcoming fire season. The acquired knowledge will be shared with other members of the SPMF.
Separately, in Esquel, Chubut, the Provincial Forestry Secretariat and the Provincial Fire Management Service are conducting its 17th annual forest fire prevention campaign. The program uses interactive educational stations to teach fifth-grade students about environmental awareness and fire behavior to foster long-term community safety.
