Neuquén Governor Figueroa sets 40-day deadline for local leaders

Governor Rolando Figueroa has established a 40-day deadline for local mayors and territorial leaders to finalize their political structures and public works plans for the upcoming year. This directive follows a technical mission to Houston aimed at attracting investment to the Vaca Muerta region.

The announcement has intensified internal political dynamics in Neuquén. The ruling Comunidad party is working to consolidate its influence, potentially absorbing members of the MPN party to strengthen its electoral lists.

Additionally, the absence of Marcelo Rucci, leader of the Private Oil Workers Union, from the Houston trip has caused friction. Rucci expressed dissatisfaction regarding the lack of formal protocol in his invitation, stating that being contacted through intermediaries is a lack of respect toward workers.
