Neuquén Governor proposes tax exemptions for local hiring

Neuquén Governor Rolando Figueroa has announced a proposal to eliminate the Gross Income Tax for companies that generate new local jobs starting in 2028. The announcement was made during the presentation of the Parque Industrial Capital (PIC) alongside Mayor Mariano Gaido.

To implement this benefit, the government plans to use the RIdE platform, a system designed to cross-reference data from employers, unions, and workers to verify local hiring. This initiative aims to leverage the province's economic growth, driven largely by the Vaca Muerta energy projects, to improve local employment and social indicators.

Figueroa also discussed the province's fiscal landscape, noting that while oil royalties account for 48% of current resources, the Gross Income Tax is the second largest revenue source, contributing 26% in September. He defended existing fiscal incentives, including the extension of the RIGI to upstream projects in Vaca Muerta, stating that the province is willing to sacrifice certain tax revenues to stimulate economic activity that could reach $2.5 billion annually.
