Neuquén Governor Rolando Figueroa undergoes mandatory drug test

Neuquén Governor Rolando Figueroa has undergone a mandatory toxicological test, sharing a video of the process and the negative results on social media. The governor stated, “Public officials must lead by example,” emphasizing that compliance with the law is a priority for his administration.

The testing is mandated by Law 3531, which was approved by the Neuquén Legislature and regulated by the Executive Branch. The law requires officials across the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches—including ministers, judges, legislators, and mayors—to undergo screenings to detect substances such as cocaine, cannabis, amphetamines, and benzodiazepines.

Figueroa linked the requirement to the provincial government's broader anti-drug trafficking policies, noting that those responsible for making significant decisions must act with full consciousness and responsibility.
