Argentina strengthens public health through medical residency programs

Various provinces in Argentina are reporting significant developments in the training and integration of healthcare professionals into the public health system.

In Buenos Aires, the Ministry of Health has filled 76% of available medical residency positions, incorporating 1,793 professionals. This includes 100% coverage for strategic specialties such as psychiatry, neurology, and surgery. In Tucumán, the Hospital del Niño Jesús celebrated the graduation of 18 residents across seven specialties, including pediatrics and biochemistry.

In the Patagonia region, Neuquén has officially incorporated 103 new residents to strengthen its provincial health network, including locations like Villa La Angostura. Similarly, El Bolsón reported the graduation of six specialists in general medicine and mental health, while Esquel saw the graduation of three new professionals. In Santiago del Estero, 25 professionals completed their health science residencies, including the first graduates from the UNSE Faculty of Medical Sciences.

Additionally, Formosa conducted mandatory examinations for professionals seeking to enter the 2026 provincial residency system, which now includes nutrition as a specialized field. In General Arenales, nursing students received technical kits containing essential clinical instruments to support their professional training and alleviate economic burdens.
