Neuquén invests in major public healthcare system expansion

The Government of Neuquén is implementing a large-scale investment program to expand and modernize its public healthcare system. The initiative aims to strengthen primary care and improve service access across various regions of the province.

In 2025, the province inaugurated 14,215 square meters of new construction and expansions, representing an investment of 140 million pesos. Governor Rolando Figueroa noted that the expansion follows data showing 71% of Neuquén residents utilize the public health system. Between 2023 and 2025, annual consultations rose from 2.3 million to 2.7 million.

A major component of this effort is the Hospital Regional Norpatagónico, which is undergoing a decentralization process to serve as a high-complexity medical hub for the Patagonia region. The first stage of the project involves constructing 20,000 square meters of facilities, including operating rooms and laboratories. Construction was reactivated following a provincial decree to settle agreements with the contracted company using local funds.
