Neuquén judge orders eviction of land occupation

A judge in Neuquén has authorized an eviction order for a private property in the western part of the city following an occupation by approximately 100 to 130 people. The group, which arrived mid-week with tents and vehicles, is reportedly seeking housing solutions and has requested meetings with the Provincial Institute of Housing and Urbanism (IPVU).

While the court granted a 48-hour window for the eviction, the execution of the order is currently paused. Authorities are evaluating operational risks due to the presence of families and minors, as well as difficult terrain characterized by mud and flooded areas. Prosecutor Juan Narváez stated that the priority is to restore the property to its owners without resorting to violence or immediate criminalization of the occupants, acknowledging the regional housing deficit.

Police units, including mounted and motorcycle divisions, have cordoned off the perimeter. The prosecutor's office has also notified child defense services and the Ministry of Social Development due to the presence of children and adolescents at the site.
