Neuquén legislators address water security and unpaid subsidies

Legislators in Neuquén are addressing several critical regional issues, including water security, energy costs, and unpaid subsidies for emergency services.

In Cutral Co, provincial deputy Juan Sepulveda highlighted urgent concerns regarding water availability, particularly for the summer months. He called for the installation of a new pump to reinforce the system and noted that maintenance issues at the provincial water entity, EPAS, directly impact residents. Additionally, Sepulveda criticized the removal of national subsidies for heating and electricity in cold regions and advocated for greater local industrialization to retain the value generated by the province's oil and gas resources.

Separately, Deputy Carlos Coggiola has introduced a project to demand that the national government settle outstanding debts owed to Neuquén's Volunteer Firefighter Associations. The claim involves approximately 44 million pesos per entity. Official figures cited in the proposal indicate a significant discrepancy between the funds collected from insurance policy premiums intended for these subsidies and the actual amounts disbursed by the state.
