Neuquén municipality pushes forward Mandalari street upgrade
The Neuquén municipal government is carrying out a major upgrade of Mandalari street, a historic thoroughfare that links several northern neighborhoods of the city. Subsecretary of Environment and Citizen Protection Francisco Baggio explained that the project, approved after a land regularisation process, will replace the existing dirt road with a two‑lane avenue featuring sidewalks, bike lanes, lighting, drainage and two roundabouts—one at each end of the corridor. The work aims to improve road safety, accessibility for people with reduced mobility, and overall connectivity between districts such as Rincón de Emilio, Rincón Club de Campo and Rincón del Río, while complying with environmental requirements.
Baggio emphasized that the intervention does not create a new road but upgrades an existing one, and that the municipality has secured the necessary land titles to avoid encroaching on the protected area of Parque Norte. The project is intended to address long‑standing traffic and safety issues on the steep, unpaved street.
