Neuquén Province Seizes Over 254 Kg of Drugs After Assuming Anti‑Narcotics Jurisdiction

Since the province took over investigations of small‑scale drug sales under the de‑federalisation law, Neuquén police reported the removal of more than 254 kg of illicit substances from circulation. In the past year, 366 raids on residences used for narcotics sales resulted in 145 arrests, the seizure of 211.7 kg of marijuana, 42.4 kg of cocaine and assorted psychoactive drugs, plus 91 firearms, over 2,400 rounds of ammunition, 86 vehicles, and cash assets worth roughly 210 million Argentine pesos.

The crackdown was coordinated between the provincial Division Antinarcóticos and the Ministry of Public Prosecution, following the adoption of National Law 26.052 and provincial Law 3.488. Officials highlighted the swift judicial processing and the role of community tip‑offs in disrupting micro‑trafficking networks across the rapidly growing province, which is also a hub for hydrocarbon development.
