Neuquén public health system reaches 512,000 users

The public health system in Neuquén, Argentina, has reached 512,000 users, following an increase of approximately 32,000 people since 2023. This growth is driven by a rising provincial population and migration from other provinces. According to Renaper data, 13,147 people relocated to Neuquén during the first half of 2026, accounting for 62.3% of all registered address changes in 2025.

To manage this increased demand, the Ministry of Health has outlined a strategy focused on three main pillars: accessibility and proximity, transparency through public competitions for management positions, and inter-institutional coordination. Health Minister Martín Regueiro stated that while the provincial budget has seen a significant increase, the goal is to ensure growth is managed in an orderly manner.

The provincial government is also working on a phased plan for priority hospital infrastructure projects and aims to strengthen human resources, equipment, and supplies to prevent the system from collapsing under the demographic pressure.
