Neuquén reports new hantavirus case following contact with deceased patient

A new case of hantavirus has been confirmed in Aluminé, Neuquén. The patient, a young adult, contracted the virus after having close contact with a 26-year-old individual who died several weeks ago due to the virus.

According to Angélica Huglich, Director of the Aluminé Hospital, the new patient is currently stable and under monitoring at the Zapala Hospital. The patient had been in isolation for 15 days following high-risk exposure. Symptoms reported include fever and headache.

Health authorities have identified 32 close contacts of the deceased individual and three members of the new patient's immediate family, all of whom are currently in isolation at their homes.
