Neuquén restores memorial tile for disappeared student Mirta Tronelli

In Neuquén, Argentina, a commemorative tile was replaced on Avenida Argentina to honor Mirta Tronelli, a 22-year-old student leader who was abducted during the civic-military dictatorship and remains disappeared. The ceremony, held on the International Day of the Disappeared, brought together family members, human rights organizations, and survivors of state terrorism.

The tile is part of the ‘Baldosas de la Memoria’ (Memory Tiles) initiative, a municipal program designed to preserve local history regarding state terrorism. Officials emphasized the collective responsibility involved in maintaining historical memory. Additional memorial tiles are scheduled to be installed on September 16 at San Martín secondary school to honor students abducted during the ‘Noche de los Lápices’.
