Neurointelligence, a Varese-based association founded by clinical criminologist Franco Posa, is conducting research into the relationship between criminal behavior and brain function. The organization integrates scientific research, laboratory criminalistics, publishing, and a historical bibliographic archive.

A key component of their work involves experimental research on the brain metabolism and functioning of individuals who have committed violent crimes. Posa emphasizes that this scientific research is distinct from the forensic expert activities performed during judicial proceedings. The findings are intended for academic and scientific exchange, often through international collaborations, particularly with the United States.

Additional projects managed by the association include psychological autopsy protocols and techniques for reconstructing injuries caused by bladed weapons. Neurointelligence also serves as a training hub for university students and young researchers in the fields of forensic neuroscience and criminalistics.
