Neurologist warns of rising cognitive decline and Alzheimer's risk

Neurologist Pedro Schestatsky, author of ‘Cérebros quebrados – Uma epidemia invisível’, warns of a rising epidemic of cognitive decline and mental health issues. He notes that Brazil currently leads rankings in anxiety, depression, and premature cognitive decline.

Schestatsky predicts that by 2050, half of all elderly individuals will suffer from Alzheimer’s. He emphasizes that the loss of lucidity is occurring much earlier in life due to neurological and neuropsychiatric factors. To combat these issues, he suggests that medical consultations should focus more on physical health and lifestyle improvements, as improving bodily health can positively impact brain function.

Additionally, the expert points to the excessive consumption of digital content and the difficulty of filtering information as contributing factors to brain strain.
