Neuschwanstein Castle reaches 75 million visitor milestone

Neuschwanstein Castle has reached a major tourism milestone, welcoming its 75 millionth visitor. The landmark guest was a 38-year-old woman from Ötisheim, Baden-Württemberg, who visited with her family.

As a UNESCO World Heritage site and the largest attraction managed by the Bavarian Palace Administration, the castle attracts approximately 1.1 million visitors annually. Currently, more than 70 percent of these guests travel from abroad. The castle, commissioned by King Ludwig II and opened to the public in 1886, remains a global symbol of historicism.

To celebrate the occasion, Hermann Auer, President of the Bavarian Palace Administration, presented the family with flowers and an annual pass. Bavarian Finance and Home Minister Albert Füracker noted the site's enduring fascination and the importance of maintaining the historic monument while providing a high-quality experience for international and local guests.
