Neustadt an der Weinstraße orders vegetation trimming

The city of Neustadt an der Weinstraße has announced measures to address overgrown vegetation following inspections by the local regulatory office (Ordnungsamt). Officials found that trees, shrubs, and hedges in various areas of the city have grown excessively, encroaching on public spaces.

Property owners and residents are legally obligated to maintain their vegetation to ensure public safety. Overhanging branches and hedges can narrow sidewalks and bike paths, obstruct views at intersections, or cover traffic signs, street names, and lighting. Additionally, excessive growth can clog drainage systems, which increases the risk of street flooding during heavy rainfall.

Property owners identified as needing to trim their vegetation will receive official written notices from the Ordnungsamt in the coming days. The city is appealing to residents to perform regular maintenance to prevent safety hazards.
