Neuwied expands holiday childcare for primary school families
The city of Neuwied is working to expand holiday childcare services for primary school children. In collaboration with independent providers, the city aims to create reliable structures that help working parents balance professional and family life.
To better understand the specific needs of families, the city has launched an online survey for parents of primary school students. This initiative follows the expansion of all-day school programs and addresses the upcoming legal entitlement to all-day support, which begins for first graders in the 2026/2027 school year.
Mayor Peter Jung stated that the goal is not merely to create more places, but to provide varied and educational holiday experiences. Neuwied is currently the only 'child-friendly municipality' in Rhineland-Palatinate working closely with independent providers in this manner.
