Nevada judge permits interview evidence in Duane Davis Tupac murder trial

Nevada Judge Carli Kierny ruled that a 2008 police interview given by Duane “Keffe D” Davis is admissible in his upcoming trial for the 1996 killing of rapper Tupac Shakur. The trial is set to begin on Aug. 10, and Davis, 63, faces life imprisonment without parole if convicted. Prosecutors allege Davis orchestrated the murder, while his defense argued the interview should have remained confidential.

Kierny found the interview no longer protected because Davis later discussed the case publicly and incorporated the content into a book he co‑authored. The same interview has appeared in earlier books and documentaries about the case. Shakur was shot in Las Vegas on Sept. 7, 1996, and died six days later; his death remains one of the most notorious unsolved murders in the United States.
