Nevada unemployment rate falls as Las Vegas adds 7,000 jobs

Nevada’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 4.8% in August 2026, a 0.2% decrease from July. The Las Vegas metropolitan area drove this growth by adding 7,000 new jobs.

Tourism remains a primary driver for the state's economy. To bolster international interest, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority signed a $1.45 million marketing deal to attract Australian tourists, which includes the launch of direct Sydney-to-Las Vegas flights in December.

While Governor Joe Lombardo expressed optimism regarding business growth and diversification, some analysts, including those from JP Morgan, have noted more cautious indicators in the broader economic landscape.
