Nevşehir Raises Security in Kapadokya for Eid al-Adha Holiday

Governor Hüseyin Kök of Nevşehir announced heightened security measures in the UNESCO‑listed Kapadokya region for the nine‑day Eid al‑Adha (Kurban Bayramı) holiday. All relevant public agencies coordinated to ensure safety for the area’s more than four million annual tourists.

The deployment includes 1,831 police and gendarmerie personnel with 218 vehicles, 12 migration officers with 2 vehicles, 14 AFAD rescue staff with 4 vehicles, 1,342 health workers with 29 vehicles, 30 emergency‑call centre staff with 1 vehicle, and 421 social‑services officers with 10 vehicles. Teams will operate 24 hours a day across seven districts, 19 towns and 146 villages, with particular focus on popular sites such as Göreme. The governor also urged drivers to observe traffic rules to keep the celebrations peaceful.
