Neven Frangeš, prominent Croatian jazz musician and composer, dies at 76
Neven Frangeš, a prominent Croatian jazz pianist, composer, arranger, and music educator, has passed away at the age of 76.
Frangeš had a career spanning over five decades, leaving a significant impact on the Croatian jazz, theater, and film scenes. He was a key figure in the Croatian music community, serving as a member of the board for the Porin Music Awards and as a member of the Croatian Music Union.
His musical journey was marked by a long-standing collaboration with legendary vibraphonist Boško Petrović, with whom he recorded notable albums such as ‘Sarabanda’, ‘Un Chien Andalou’, and ‘From Moscow to L.A.’ Throughout his career, he performed with various international jazz artists, including Chet Baker, Toots Thielemans, and Clark Terry. Beyond jazz, he contributed to the Croatian rock scene as an arranger and composed music for over one hundred theatrical productions, as well as various films and television dramas.
