Neville Choi elected President of Pacific Islands News Association
Neville Choi, President of the Papua New Guinea Media Council, has been elected President of the Pacific Islands News Association (PINA). The election took place during the PINA Annual General Meeting in Savusavu.
Choi succeeds veteran Tongan journalist Kalafi Moala, who stepped down after serving one term. Moala withdrew his nomination for a second term, stating it was time for new leadership and expressing confidence in Choi’s ability to lead the organization. Lisa Osifelo, a journalist from the Solomon Islands, was elected Vice President.
The leadership transition comes as PINA prepares for its next phase, which will be closely linked to Papua New Guinea, the host of the 2028 Pacific Media Summit.
