New animal-themed cafes open in Osaka and Shiga

Two new animal-themed cafes are opening in the Kansai region of Japan.

In Tondabayashi, Osaka, TWIN’S has opened as a specialized cafe for interacting with giant dog breeds. The facility features nine dogs, including Saint Bernards, Great Pyrenees, and Bernese Mountain Dogs. The experience is reservation-based and includes options to enjoy lunch at a sister restaurant and take mini-drives in a tuk-tuk.

In Ritto, Shiga Prefecture, ANELLA CAFE Kusatsu Ritto is scheduled to open on September 4, 2026. This cafe focuses on rescue dogs and cats, offering visitors the opportunity to interact with animals available for adoption. To celebrate the opening, the cafe is offering 30 minutes of free admission from September 4 through September 6.
