New autism support initiatives launched in Spain

Two distinct initiatives aimed at supporting individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) have been launched in Spain.

In Castellón, CEU University has started the second edition of a psychomotricity program in collaboration with TEA-CAST. The program provides physical activity sessions for children with level 3 ASD, who require significant support. University volunteers and professors assist children through adapted tests and anticipation panels to improve motor skills, balance, and social interaction. The initiative aims to foster long-term adherence to sports and provides practical training for physical activity and sports science students.

In Rivas-Vaciamadrid, the ASPADIR association has inaugurated a new specialized day center for adults with ASD. The facility includes multipurpose rooms, a physiotherapy room, and a sports area equipped with stationary bikes. The center utilizes art—including contemporary dance, painting, and sculpture—as a primary vehicle for expression. According to ASPADIR president María José Posadas, the center was created to provide specialized daytime care within the local community, promoting social inclusion and equality of opportunity.
