New bakeries to open in Takasaki and Izumo

New confectionery shops are opening in the Gunma and Shimane prefectures.

In Takasaki City, Ohyagi-cho, the gluten-free bakery ‘Komeko no Mahou’ opened on August 29, 2026. The shop specializes in baked goods made with domestic rice flour, rice oil, and beet sugar, avoiding wheat, preservatives, and coloring agents. Signature items include ‘bite-sized castella’ known for its chewy texture, as well as baby pancakes and baked donuts.

In Izumo City, the popular event-based baked goods vendor ‘mota...88’ is scheduled to open a physical storefront in November 2026. The shop will be located in Imaichi-cho Kita-honmachi, near the intersection of the Mochikichi Izumo store and adjacent to Head Spa Miyabi.
