New Balance unveils 983 lifestyle sneaker inspired by 2000s running designs

New Balance has announced the introduction of the 983, a new lifestyle sneaker designed to transition the brand’s early-2000s performance running aesthetics into the contemporary lifestyle market. The silhouette features a sculptural design, utilizing elliptical ABZORB SBS pods and wave-like midsole moldings to create a technical, futuristic appearance.

The shoe incorporates a low-cut mesh base with rounded synthetic overlays and a glossy finish. The debut colorway includes Shadow Blue and Zinc Blue. To support natural movement, the design utilizes ABZORB and ABZORB SBS cushioning technology paired with a solid rubber sole designed for flexibility and impact reduction.

A global launch campaign features tennis star Coco Gauff and rapper Aminé, emphasizing the shoe’s versatility for self-expression. In Japan, the model is scheduled for release on October 1 at a price of 22,000 yen.
