New bear-themed park planned for Sovata, Romania

The municipality of Sovata in Mureș County plans to construct a themed park dedicated to bears from around the world. The project, estimated to cost 2.5 million euros, will be funded through European funds.

Rather than housing live animals, the park will feature interactive installations, realistic three-dimensional models, and educational spaces to showcase various species and their natural habitats. The site will be developed on land previously occupied by a degraded greenhouse complex.

Designed to resemble the silhouette of a bear when viewed from above, the park will include a circular wooden pavilion at the head area. This pavilion will serve as an exhibition space, a video projection hall, and a visitor reception area. Mayor Fülöp László Zsolt noted that the initiative draws on the local historical connection to bears, which serve as a symbol for the town.
