New body horror films Nightborn and Clayface arrive in theaters
Two new horror films focusing on body horror are making their way to audiences. Nightborn, a British-Finnish production directed by Hanna Bergholm, follows a couple who relocate from England to Finland. The film serves as a dark allegory for motherhood, exploring themes of postnatal depression and postpartum psychosis through the lens of a woman who believes her child is a troll.
Clayface, a DC Comics-based R-rated horror film directed by James Watkins, is set for a theatrical release on Friday, October 23. Based on the character Matt Hagen, the story depicts an experimental facial reconstruction surgery that transforms a man's body into clay. The film features a screenplay by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini and is expected to eventually stream on HBO Max.
