New book about Bishop Jonas Kauneckas presented in Telšiai

Cultural historian and literary critic Dr. Algimantas Bučys presented his new book, “Tikėjimo žmogus perversmų Lietuvoje” (A Man of Faith in the Perversions of Lithuania), at the Karolina Praniauskaitė Public Library in Telšiai on October 21.

The work focuses on the life and activities of Bishop Emeritus Jonas Kauneckas, a figure whose ministry began during the Soviet occupation. The book explores the dramatic history of 20th-century Lithuania through the priest's personal experiences, detailing the challenges to faith and the struggle for freedom under Soviet rule.

Dr. Bučys and Bishop Kauneckas attended the presentation, which also included historian Janina Bucevičė and Telšiai Bishop Algirdas Jurevičius. The publication serves as a literary portrait of the bishop, examining his underground activities and his role during the transition to Lithuanian independence.
