New book analyzes the role of the Argentine Congress
Journalist Laura Serra and National Electoral Chamber judge Alberto Dalla Via presented the book ‘El Congreso a partir de la reforma’ (The Congress since the reform) at the Salón de los Pasos Perdidos. The work examines the role of the Legislative Power since the return to democracy, focusing specifically on changes introduced by the 1994 constitutional reform.
The presentation included the participation of the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Martín Menem, and was moderated by former national deputies Mario Negri and Graciela Camaño. The book, which exceeds 300 pages, explores legislative and oversight functions, political representation, federalism, and tensions between different branches of government.
During the event, Graciela Camaño noted that the book allows for an observation of Congress through its history while raising questions regarding certain aspects of the 1994 reform. Mario Negri emphasized the importance of the constitutional reform and called for reflection on the possibility of a new constituent convention.
