New book proposes moving Buenos Aires province capital to Junín

Former national deputy Miguel Saredi and essayist Luis Gotte are presenting a book titled ‘Junín, Capital de los Bonaerenses’ at the Círculo de Legisladores in Buenos Aires. The work proposes a reorganization and decentralization of the Buenos Aires province to address regional inequalities and the heavy concentration of political, economic, and administrative power within the Metropolitan Area, which currently holds 67% of the province's population.

The proposal suggests shifting specific ministries—including Energy, Transport, Production, and Agrarian Affairs—to Junín to empower intermediate cities and promote municipal autonomy. Saredi noted that the goal is to encourage migration toward the interior by improving job opportunities and quality of life. Under this plan, La Plata would transition into a specialized educational and cultural hub for the province.
