New book releases for October 2026

Several notable literary works are scheduled for release this October, featuring a mix of fiction, memoir, and non-fiction.

In fiction, Pulitzer Prize winner Barbara Kingsolver returns with ‘Correspondre’, a novel set between the Tennessee countryside and an Indiana university campus. Natalie Baszile’s ‘Amis et famille’ explores themes of friendship, loyalty, and privilege through the lens of two friends navigating racial dynamics and police encounters. Other notable entries include John Green’s ‘Hollywood, Ending’ and Charlotte B. Plumb’s gothic romance, ‘Récolter et semer’.

In non-fiction and memoir, Belle Burden’s ‘Strangers: A Memoir of Marriage’ examines her failed marriage during the COVID-19 pandemic. Joan Didion’s classic ‘The Year of Magical Thinking’ remains a recommended read on grief, while Eleanor Johnson of Columbia University offers a historical perspective on the demonization of women in ‘Chienne monstrueuse’. Additionally, Anne Carson’s poetry and essay collection ‘Glass, irony, and God’ is highlighted following her Nobel Prize in Literature.
