New books explore Croatian resistance and emigration history

Two new books focusing on Croatian historical and cultural themes have been introduced.

In Tomislavgrad, Ive Lučić presented ‘Škripari - Hrvatski pokret otpora u Bosni i Hercegovini od 1945. do 1951.’, an extensive research project spanning over 20 years. The book documents the Croatian resistance movement against communist rule in Bosnia and Herzegovina, detailing the lives of approximately 2,500 individuals and 900 locations. The work aims to clarify historical myths and address previously under-researched events involving the UDBA and OZNA secret police.

In Zagreb, the Croatian Emigrants' Institute and the Tomislavgrad branch of Matica hrvatska announced the upcoming presentation of ‘Emigrantska pisma’ by Professor Vinko Grubišić. Scheduled for September 16, 2026, the book is a work of memoir prose that explores previously unknown fragments of the lives and work of leading Croatian linguists and writers within the cultural emigration of the second half of the 20th century.
