New books in Brazil explore childhood memories and regional traditions

Two new books in Brazil are set to explore themes of memory and local tradition.

In Ribeirão Preto, author Carolina Mendonça will launch her first children's book, ‘Pé de Quê?’, on August 29 at Livraria da Travessa. The work focuses on childhood memories of backyards, nature, and the origins of food, drawing inspiration from the author's own grandmother and her connection to the land.

In Mato Grosso, Geralda Souza will release ‘Tradições: A Festa dos Filhos Ausentes de Torixoréu’ on September 5. The book documents the first 15 editions of the ‘Festa dos Filhos Ausentes’ (Festival of Absent Children) held in Torixoréu between 1993 and 2007. It utilizes historical documents, photographs, and testimonies to record how the annual event was established to reunite residents who had left the municipality.
