New Braunfels, Texas adds two fast‑casual restaurant projects

Portillo’s is planning a new 4,987‑square‑foot restaurant with a drive‑through at 2807 Sophie Lane in New Braunfels, Texas. The privately funded project, estimated at $2.5 million, is slated to begin construction on 2 November 2026 and open on 3 May 2027.

Slim Chickens is renovating an existing 2,897‑square‑foot location at 1395 I‑H 35 North Frontage Road in the same city. The $200,000 renovation, also privately funded, is scheduled to start on 1 September 2026 with a target opening of 1 April 2027. Both projects were disclosed through permits filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
