New Bus Timetable Adds 83 Services in Northern Illawarra

From early August, the northern Illawarra suburbs of Wollongong will receive 83 additional weekly bus trips under a refreshed timetable. Route 90 between Austinmer and Wollongong will run every 10‑15 minutes during peak weekdays and every 30 minutes on Sundays, while Route 91 will provide a dedicated link for the University of Wollongong from Austinmer, Bulli and Corrimal. Route 92 will replace a two‑hourly service with an hourly loop between Bulli and Corrimal. The upgrades are part of the NSW Government’s $150 million Bus Service Uplift Program and are designed to match growing passenger demand, reduce wait times and improve connections to train stations, especially ahead of the South Coast rail timetable change expected later in 2026.

Local officials highlighted the benefits: Heathcote MP Maryanne Stuart said the new services address community concerns and rising fuel costs; Illawarra Minister Ryan Park called the changes essential for a growing region; and Wollongong MP Paul Scully noted the impact on daily travel for work, school and errands. The timetable aims to better link suburbs such as Corrimal, Fairy Meadow, Woonona, Bulli and Thirroul with the Wollongong CBD and key destinations like the University of Wollongong.
